     1. Disrespect to parents and religion
     2. A story-line based on romance or a friendship between non-mahrams that later develops
     3. Profanity and language
     4. Promotion of negative values and role-models
3. Limitations: Limit the amount of TV and movies you are consuming as a family with time-limits. We do not recommend exceeding 40 minutes/day with an average of 4-5 hours per week.
4. Group-setting: Our recommendation is that every member of the family (adults included) should only engage with TV & movies in a communal space like a living room (including online TV). This encourages accountability from children, teenegaers, and adults —  and also gives you the chance to build a stronger family environment. It’s a win-win-win-win 🙂

A huge source of entertainment for children and teens is YouTube and other video website streaming services. Content on YouTube is often particularly concerning because it is not filtered, rated, and users can freely upload whatever they wish. Often, extremely inappropriate content is posted and only removed when it is reported. Moreover, advertisements and suggested videos often contain inappropriate content. YouTube is available on all devices, including phones, so be aware of this. Here are our recommendations:

1. Install the following or activate the following settings on all of your devices

2. Watch with your child/teen: If you want to skip this step and trust us, check out our recommendations and approved YouTube channels and resources

3. Limitations: Limit the amount of time spent on YouTube to a maximum of 20 minutes. Children and teens should never be browsing freely on YouTube without any monitoring or without a purpose.
4. Group-setting: Our recommendation is that every member of the family (adults included) should only engage with screens  in a communal space like a living room. Devices including laptops and iPads should not be permitted in private spaces like bedrooms.
